Letter zay - حرف ز

Today our guest is letter zay   ز

It is very similar to letter raa ....do you remember ? .....the only difference in writing is all about adding one dot over !........It has the sound of letter z in English language.

The dots are very important in Arabic writing as they are not an optional thing in modern Arabic writing, unlike accents.

In Arabic modern writing we may choose to add or not add accents as It depends on how excellent is the reader.

Watch for how the letter shows in different places of a word.

رُزٌّ= rice = roz


زَهْرة = flower = zah'rah


خُبزٌ = bread = khobz


زَرَافة  ٌ= giraffe = zarafah


زِرٌّ = button = zer


زَوْرَقٌ =boat = zawraq


جَزِيرَة ٌ= island = jazeerah

حَلزُونٌ = snail = halazoon
