هُو: إستَمٍع إلَى هَذٍه المُحادَثة
هُو: عَفوا ً يا آنِسَة
هِي: نَعَم أخِي
هُو: أيَن أحصُل علي جَريِدَة أمْريكِية ؟
هِي جَريِدَة أمْريكِية....!! ... لا .. لا أعرِف ..انتَظِر يوجَد كُشك جَرائِد هناك.....تستطيعُ أن تَشتَريَ أيَ جَريدَة هُناك
هُو: شُكرا ً جَزيلا ً
Instructor: you just heard
هُو: شُكرا ً جَزيلا ً
Instructor: thanks a lot
هُو: إستَمٍع للمُحادَثَة مَرة أُخرى
هُو: عَفوا ً يا أنِسَة
هِي: نَعَم أخِي
هُو: أيَن أحصُل علي جَريِدَة أمْريكِية ؟
هِي جَريِدَة أمْريكِية....!! ... لا ... لا أعرِف ..انتَظِر يوجَد كُشك جَرائِد هناك .....تستطيعُ أن تَشتَريَ أيَ جَريدَة هُناك
هُو: شُكرا ً جَزيلا ً
Instructor: now imagine you are in a café with a colleague, she says I have a lot of work now
هِي: عندى عَمَلٌ كَثيرٌ الأن
Instructor: that’s too bad
هُو: يَا للأسَف .....يا خسارة
Instructor: her husband is a friend of yours; you ask how he is and say I have a letter for him
هُو: عندى رِسَالَةٌ له
Instructor: she says I will see my husband after work
هِي: سَوف أَرَى زَوجِي بَعدَ العَمَل
Instructor: she offers to take the letter with her, how would she add “I will buy a coffee to him too”
هِي: سَأشتري قَهوة لَه أيضا ً
Instructor: how would you ask her “is your coffee still hot?”
هُو: هَل مَازاَلَت قَهوَتُكِ سَاخِنَة ؟
Instructor: she answers:" yes it’s very good"
هِي: نَعَم إنَها جَيدَة
Instructor: and it’s very hot
هِي: و هِي سَاخِنَة جِدا ً
Instructor: ask her when she is going to Egypt
هُو: مَتَى ستَذهَبينَ إلَى مَصر ؟
Instructor: do you remember how to ask this week
هُو: هَذا الأُ سُبوع
Instructor: she answers yes I will go to Egypt this week
هِي: نَعَم سَأذهَبُ إلي مِصر هَذا الأُ سبُوع
Instructor: on Friday
هِي: يَومُ الجُمُعَة
Instructor: how do you ask her next Friday?
هُو: يومُ الجُمُعَة القَادِم ؟
Instructor: she tells you" no this Friday"
هِي: لا...هذه الجُمُعَة
هُو: قُل
Instructor: Egypt is very beautiful
هُو: مِصر جَمِيلَة جدا ً
Instructor: say that there are too many things to see there
هُو: توجَد أشياءٌ كَثيرة لِتراها هُناك
Instructor: now ask her "how is the weather there"
هُو: كِيف الطَقسُ هُناك؟
Instructor: how did she answer that it’s not hot
هِي: لَيس حاراً
Instructor: and it’s not very cold
هِي: و لَيس بَارِداً جدا ً
Instructor: she says it’s nice
هِي: إنهُ لَطِيف .. إنهُ لَطِيف
Instructor: she says again Egypt is very beautiful
هِي: مِصر جَمِيلَة جدا ً
Instructor: she says that there are too many things to see there
هِي: توجَد أشياءٌ كَثيرة لِتراها هُناك
هُو : قُل
Instructor: after your return …to a female
هُو: بَعد عَودَتُكِ مِن السَفَر
Instructor: we can have lunch together with your husband
هُو: نستطيعُ أن نَأكل الغَذاء معا ً مع زَوجِك
Instructor: she agrees later she says the weather is hot today
هِي: الطَقسُ حَارٌ اليوم
Instructor: how do you tell her have a good trip?
هُو: تَصحبُك ِ السَلامَة
Instructor: we can have lunch together after your return
هُو: نستطيعُ أن نَأكل الغَذاء معا ً بَعد عَودَتُكِ مِن السَفَر
Instructor: I am travelling to Italy
هُو: أنا مُسافِرٌ إلى إِيطَاليا
Instructor: say that you’re leaving after work
هُو: سَأُسافِر إلى إيطَاليا بَعد العَمَل
Instructor: say that you are travelling to Italy next week
هُو: سَأُسافِر إلى إيطَاليا الأُسبوعَ القاَدِمَ
Instructor: she says Italy is very beautiful
هِي: إيطَاليا جَميلَة جِدا ً
Instructor: but how is the weather there?
هِي: لَكِن كِيف الطَقسُ هُناك ؟
Instructor: is it hot now
هِي: إنهُ حَارٌ الأن ؟
Instructor: yes, I think so
هُو: نَعَم أعتَقِد ذَلِك
Instructor: there are too many things to see there
هُو: توجَد أشياءٌ كَثيرة لِتراها هُناك ..... لِتراها هناك
Instructor: as she prepares to leave she says I have the coffee for my husband
هِي: عنددى القَهوَة لِزَوجِي
Instructor: you hand her your letter and say to her:"here is the letter for him too"
هُو: تَفَضلي رِسالَةً لهُ أيضا ً .. تَفَضلي
Instructor: tell her have a good trip to Egypt
هُو: تَصحبُك ِ السَلامَة إلى مِصر
Instructor: now it’s another day and you’re talking to a friend, she asks you next Tuesday
هِي: الثُلاثاء القَادِم ؟
Instructor: can you come over to our place
هِي: هَل تستطيعُ أن تَاتيَ عندنا؟
Instructor: on Tuesday night
هِي: الثُلاثاء لَيلا ً
Instructor: referring to a man she says:" a colleague of mine is coming too"
هِي: زَميلي سَيأتي أيضا ً
Instructor: can you come over to our place
هِي: هَل تستطيعُ أن تَاتي عندنا؟
هُو: أجِب
Instructor: yes, alright at what time?
هُو: نَعَم ..حَسنا ً في أى وَقت ؟
Instructor: she asks at quarter to eight
هِي: السَاعَة الثَامِنة إلا الرُبع
Instructor: yes that’s good
هُو: نَعَم ..جَيد
Instructor: she says again a colleague of mine is coming too
هِي : زَميلي سَيأتي أيضا ً
Instructor: with his children
هُو : إسْتَمِع و أعِد
هِي: مَع أولادِه ِ.. دِه ِ .. أولادِه ِ .. مَع أولادِهِ
هُو: كَيف تَقُول
Instructor: his children
هِي: أولادِهِ
Instructor: here is how she says with his three children
هُو : إسْتَمِع و أعِد
هِي: مَع أولاَدِه ِ الثَلاثَة
هِي: مَع أولادِه ِ الثَلاثَة
Instructor: she says my colleague is coming
هِي : زَميلي سيأتي
Instructor: with his three children
هِي: مَع أولادِه ِ الثَلاثَة
Instructor: do you remember how to say two girls
هِي: بنَتين
Instructor: how about "two daughters"
هي: ابنتين
Instructor: and a boy
هِي: و وَلَد
Instructor: how about the word "son"?
هو: ابن ....ابن
Instructor: my colleague is coming with his three children
هِي :سَيأتي زَميلي مَع أولادِه ِ الثَلاثَة
Instructor: she says he is coming to our place next week
هِي: سَيأتي عندنا الإسُبوعَ القَادِمَ
Instructor: next Tuesday with his children
هِي: الثُلاثاء القادِم مَع أولادِ هِ
Instructor: they are from England
هِي: هُم مِن إنجِلترا
Instructor: do they speak Arabic?
هُو: هَل يَتحدَثُون اللغَة العَرَبِية ؟
Instructor: she says:" yes, they speak English and Arabic"
هِي: نَعَم ، هم يتحَدثُون الإنجلِيزِية والعَرَبِية
Instructor: they live in Aleppo now
هِي: هُم يَعِيشُون في حَلَب الأن
Instructor: but they are from England
هِي: لَكِنَهُم مِن انجلترا
Instructor: he is coming with his children
هِي: سَيأتي مَع أولادِهِ
Instructor: my colleague and his wife
هِي: زَمِيلي و زَوجُه ُ
Instructor: and their children
هُو : إسْتَمِع و أعِد
هِي: و أولادُهُما ..دُهُما .. أولادُهُما
Instructor: they live in Aleppo now
هِي: يَعِيشُون في حَلَب الأن
Instructor: how did she say their children?.....bearing in mind that she is talking about a couple, which means two people
هِي: أولادُهُما .. أولادُهُما
Instructor: ask your friend is your wife coming too
هُو: هَل زَوجُه سَتأتي أيضا ً؟
Instructor: she answers:" I don’t know… she is going to London this week"
هِي: لا أعرِف ... سَتَذهَبُ إلى لَندَن هَذا الأُ سُبوع
Instructor: she corrects herself “no next week”
هِي: لا... الأُسبُوع القَادِم
Instructor: but I know my colleague is coming
هِي: لَكِن أعرِف أن زَمِيلي سَيأتي
Instructor: with his three children
هِي: مَع أولادِه ِ الثَلاثَة
هُو: إسأل
Instructor: how is the weather in England now?
هُو: كَيف الطَقسُ في إنجِلترا الأن ؟
Instructor: she says it’s cold
هِي: إنهُ بَارِد
Instructor: she says my colleague isn’t going to London with his wife
هِي: زًميلي لَن يَذهَبَ إلى لَندَن مَع زَوجِه
Instructor: that’s too bad
هُو: يا للأسَف.....يا خسارة
Instructor: yes she is going to London without my colleague
هِي: نَعَم ، سَتَذهَبُ إلى لَندَن بِدون زَميلي
Instructor: and without their children
هِي: و بِدوُن أولادِهِما
Instructor: next week
هِي: الأُسبُوع القَادِم
Instructor: she is going to London without her children
هِي: سَتَذهَبُ إلى لَندَن بِدوُن أولادِها
Instructor: my colleague will stay at home with his three children
هِي: زَمِيلي سَيمكثُ في المَنزِل مَع أولادِه ِ الثَلاثَة .. سَيمكثُ في المَنزِل
هُو: كَيفَ تَقُول
Instructor: with their children
هِي: مَعَ أولادِهِما
Instructor: that’s too bad, why?
هُو: يا للاسَف ..لِماذَا ؟
Instructor: she wants to say the trip is expensive, first do you remember how to ask "is gas expensive?”
هُو: هَل الجازولينُ غَالي ؟.. غَالي
Instructor: what’s the word you know for expensive?
هُو: غَالي .. غَالي
Instructor: here’s how to say the trip
هُو : إسْتَمِع و أعِد
هِي: الرِحلَة..رِحلَة .. الرِحلَة
Instructor: how would she say the trip is very expensive?.....and note that the word" trip" is a feminine word so the word "expensive' should be feminine as well.
هِي: الرِحلَة غَاليةُ جِدا ً
هِي: الرِحلَة غَالية ٌ جِدا ً
Instructor: a trip
هُو: رِحلَة .. رِحلَة
هُو: كَيفَ تَقُول
Instructor: it’s expensive
هُو: إنها غَالية
Instructor: your friend says she is going to London without her children
هِي: سَتَذهَبُ إلى لَندَن بِدوُنِ أولادِها
Instructor: the trip to England is expensive
هُو: الرِحلَة إلى إنجِلترا غَالية.. غَالية
Instructor: here is the Arabic word for more expensive
هُو: أغلَى .. أغلَى
Instructor: try to say now is more expensive
هُو: الأن هي أغلَى
هُو: الأن هي أغلَى
Instructor: your friend says the trip to England is expensive
هِي: الرِحلَة إلي إنجِلترا غَالية
Instructor: she says my colleague will stay at home with their children
هِي: زَمِيلي سَيمكثُ في المَنزِل مَع أولادِهِما
Instructor: she wants to say that it was less expensive, first…. just listen
هِي: كَانِت أرخَصَ أولاً
هِي: كَانِت أرخَصَ أولاً
Instructor: here’s less expensive or cheaper
هِي: أرخَص .. خَص .. أرخَص
هُو: كَيف تَقُول
Instructor: less expensive
هِي: أرخَص
Instructor: you want to say it was referring to the trip which is feminine, here’s it was or it used to be
هُو: كَاَنِت .. كَانت .. كَانِت
هُو: كَيف َ تَقُول
Instructor: it was
هُو: كَانِت
Instructor: referring to the trip she says it was less expensive
هِي: كَانِت أرخَص
Instructor: and here is the word for first
هُو : إسْتَمِع و أعِد
هُو: أولا ً ....أولاً
Instructor: now you agree saying it was less expensive
هُو: كَانِت أرخَص
Instructor: now try to say:" it was less expensive, first"
هُو: كَانِت أرخَص أولا ً
Instructor: or …"it was cheaper before"
هُو: كَانِت أرخَص من قبل
Instructor: your friend agrees and says:" yes, but now it is more expensive"
هِي: نَعَم ، لَكِن الأن هي أغلَى
هِي: نَعَم ، لَكِن الأن هي أغلَى
Instructor: say together more expensive less expensive
هُو: أغلَى .. أرخَص
Instructor: try to say it’s much more expensive
هُو: أغلَى كَثيرا ً
هُو: قُل
Instructor: the trip
هُو: الرِحلَة
Instructor: she says again the trip to England is expensive
هِي: الرِحلَة إلى إنجِلترا غَالِية .. غَاليِة
Instructor: how does she say that before it was much less expensive?
هِي: مِن قَبل كَانِت أرخَصَ كَثيرا ً
Instructor: now you’re leaving work for today and you meet a colleague who is just arrived, ask her "how is the weather today?”
هُو: كِيف الطَقسُ اليَوم؟ .. الطَقس
Instructor: she says it’s not bad
هِي: إنهُ ليس سيئا ً
Instructor: she continues today the weather is very nice
هِي: اليَوم الطَقسُ جَميلٌ جِدا ً
Instructor: it’s hot now but not bad
هِي: إنهُ حَارٌ الأن لَكِن لَيس سيئا ً
Instructor: tell her my friends are coming to my place tonight
هِي: أصدِقائي سَيأتُون عندي اللَيلَة
Instructor: add their children are coming too
هُو: و أولادُهُما سَيأتُون أيضا َ .. سَيأتُون
Instructor: what is the word for ice cream?
هُو: بُوظَة .. بُوظَة
Instructor: tell her:" I will buy some ice cream"
هُو: سأشتَري بَعض البُوظَة
Instructor: my friend and his three children are coming
هُو: صَديِقي وأولادُهُ الثَلاثَة سَيأتون
Instructor: I will buy a lot of ice cream
هُو: سَاشتَري بُوظَة كَثيراً
Instructor: do you remember “how would she ask you do you have money” meaning with you
هِي: هَل مَعَك مَال ؟
هِي: هَل مَعَك مَال ؟؟
Instructor: tell her yes I have a few dinars meaning with me
نَعَم مَعي بضع الدينارات
نَعَم مَعي بضع الدينارات
Instructor: now she says: "ice cream is very expensive now
هِي: البوظة غَاليَة جدا ً الان
هِي: البوظة غَاليَة جدا ً الان
Instructor: before it was less expensive
هِي: كَانِت أرخَصَ من قبل
هِي: كَانِت أرخَصَ من قبل
هُو: قُل
Instructor: still the ice cream is very expensive
هُو: مَازالَت البُوظَة غَالِية جدا ً
هُو: مَازالَت البُوظَة غَالِية جدا ً
Instructor: she asks you when you are travelling on vacation to Italy?
هِي: مَتي سَتُسافِرُ في عَطلَة إلى إيطَاليا ؟
Instructor: tell her we’re going next Friday
هُو: سَنَذهَبُ يومَ الجُمعَةِ القَادِمَ.. سَنَذهَب
Instructor: she says Italy is very beautiful
هِي: إيطَاليا جَمِيلَة جِدا ً
Instructor: you agree and say:" but a trip to Italy is more expensive now"
هُو: لَكِن الرِحلَةَ إلى إيطَاليا أغلَى كثيراً الأن.. ...أغلَى كثيراً
Instructor: she says:" yes, before it was less expensive"
هِي: نَعَم، مِن قَبل كَانِت أرخَص.. كَانِت أرخَص
Instructor: Italy is still very beautiful
هِي: مَازَالَت إيطَاليا جَميلَة جِدا ً
Instructor: but much more expensive
هِي: لَكِن أغلَى كَثيرا ً
هِي: لَكِن أغلَى كَثيرا ً
Instructor: the ice cream is very expensive
هُو: البُوظَة غَالِية جدا ً
Instructor: on your way to the store you stopped by a newspaper kiosk, say excuse me to get the female clerk’s attention
هُو: عَفوا ً
هُو: عَفوا ً سَيدَتي
Instructor: you hold up your newspaper, ask how much is it?
هُو: كَم سِعرَها ؟
Instructor: she tells you twenty dinars please
هِي: عشرينَ ديناراً ، من فضلِك
هِي: عشرينَ ديناراً ، من فضلِك
هُو: الأن قُل
Instructor: before it was less expensive
هُو: مِن قَبل كَانِت أرخَص
هُو: مِن قَبل كَانِت أرخَص
Instructor: as you’re paying her, the clerk says the weather is good today
هِي: الطَقسُ لَطيفٌ اليَوم
هِي: الطَقسُ لَطيفٌ اليَوم
هُو: أجِب
Instructor: yes, it’s very nice but it’s cold
هُو: نَعَم ، إنهُ لَطيفٌ جِدا لَكِنهُ بارد
Instructor: now it’s another day a co-worker is telling you about a visitor, she says:" she is here this week"
هِي: هِي هُنا هَذا الأ ُ سبُوع
Instructor: and she will stay until next week
هِي: و سَتمكثُ حتى الأُ سبُوعِ القادِم
Instructor: she and her husband are from Egypt
هِي: هِي و زَوجُها مِن مِصر.. مِن مِصر
Instructor: they’re here without their children
هِي: هُما هُنا بِدوُن أولادِ هِما
هُو: قُل
Instructor: yes they’re here on vacation
هُو: نَعَم هُم هُنا في عُطلَة
Instructor: she says:" yes, and the weather is very nice now"
هِي: نَعَم والطَقسُ لَطيفٌ جِدا ً الأن
Instructor: but things are expensive
هو: لكن الأشياء غالية
Instructor: This is the end of unit 46 and the end of today’s lesson
