هو : نَعم اتَذَكَر. الفُندُق في المدينةِ القَدِيمة ..سَوف احجِزُ اليَوم

Instructor: now suppose you are an American man in a restaurant in
Damascus, how do you ask the waiter for the menu?
هو : قَائِمةُ الطَعاَمِ مِن فَضلِك
Instructor: your wife says to you how about ordering a pot of tea
هى : مَا رأيُكَ أن نَطلُبَ إبريقًا مِن الشَاي ؟
Instructor: how do you ask the waiter for the check?
هو: الفاتورة مِن فَضلِك
Instructor: how do you ask your wife, have you seen my pen?
هو : هَل رَأيتِ قَلمِى ؟
Instructor: she says I saw your pen two minutes ago
هى : لَقد رَأيتَهُ مَنذُ دَقيقَتين
هى : مَنذُ دَقيقَتين
Instructor: later at work your assistant asks when you are going to Egypt.
هى : مَتى تَذهَبُ الى مِصر ؟
هى : إلى مِصر
هو : كَيف تَقول
Instructor: here’s how to say:" to Cairo"
هو: ﺇستَمع وأعِد
هو : إلى القَاهِرة ..قَا...هرة
هو : إلى القَاهِرة
Instructor: literally to the Cairo, say I want to talk about the trip to Cairo
هو : أحب ُ أن اتَحدث َ عَن الرِحلَةِ إلى القَاهِرة
هو : أحب ُ أن اتَحدث ُ عَن الرِحلَةِ إلى القَاهِرة
Instructor: she asks have you booked the hotel.
هى : هَل حَجزتَ الفُندُق ؟
هى : هَل حَجزتَ الفُندُق ؟
Instructor: she offers I can make it
هو: ﺇستَمع وأعِد
هى : أسَتطِيعُ فِعلَ ذَلِك

Instructor: say “on your behalf”

هى : نيابةً عنكَ

Instructor: how would she say, I can make it on your behalf.
هى : أسَتطِيعُ فِعلَ ذَلِك نيابةً عنكَ .
Instructor: but I must do it right away
هى : لَكِن لابُد ّ ان أفعلَ ذلك حَالا ً

Instructor: another colleague just went to Cairo, do you remember how to say I went
هى : ذَهبت ُ

Instructor: how would she say, I went to Cairo three weeks ago
هى : ذَهبت ُ إلى القَاهِرةِ منذُ ثلاثةِ أسَابيعٍ
Instructor: now ask your female colleague, do you remember?
هو :هَل تتَذكَرين ؟
Instructor: the name of the hotel, literally name the hotel. Try it
هو : إسمُ الفُندُق
هو : إسمُ الفُندُق
Instructor: your assistant asks you again, have you booked the hotel?
هى : هَل حَجزتَ الفُندُق ؟
Instructor: your colleague says you need to make it right away
هى : لابُدّ أن تَفعَلَ ذَلِكَ حَالا ً
هى : لابدّ.... أن تَفعَلَ ذَلِكَ حَالا ً
Instructor: ask her if she remembers the name of the hotel
هو : هَل تتَذكَرينَ إسمَ الفُندُق ؟
Instructor: she answers yes of course I remember
هى :نَعَم بِالطَبعِ أتَذكَر
Instructor: I went to Cairo three weeks ago
هى : ذَهبت ُ إلى القَاهِرة مَنذ ُ ثلاثةِ أسَابيع
Instructor: referring to the hotel, she says it was next to a good restaurant
هى : الفُندُق كَان بِجِوارِ مَطعَمٍ جَيد
Instructor: referring to the restaurant, how would she say it’s called or literally his name is?
هى : إسمُه ُ
هى : إسمُه ُ
Instructor: how would she say, now I don’t remember?
هى : الآن ... لا أتَذكَر
هو : هى تَقول مَرة أ ُخرى
Instructor: the hotel was next to a good restaurant
هى : الفُندُق كَان بِجِوارِ مَطعَمٍ جَيد
Instructor: referring to your hotel reservations, how did your assistant say, I can make it on your behalf.
هى : أسَتطِيعُ فِعلَ ذَلِك نيابة ً عنكَ
Instructor: ask your female colleague, do you remember the name of the hotel

هو : الأن هى تَقول
Instructor: yes, wait. It was called "Al-Horreya"
هو: الحرية
هى : نَعَم إنتَظِر.. كَان إسمُه ُ الحرية
Instructor: it was next to a good restaurant
هى : كَان بِجِوارِ مَطعَمٍ جَيد
Instructor: referring to the restaurant she says I don’t remember what it’s called
هى : لا أتَذَكرُ إسمَه ُ

Instructor: but the hotel is called Al-Horreyah
هى : لَكن الفُندُق إسمَه ُ الحرية
Instructor: referring to your reservations, she says you need to make it right away

هو : هَل تتَذكَرينَ أينَ؟
Instructor: she sees a pen and says look is it yours
هى : أنظُر هَل هَذا قَلمُك؟
هي: هَل هَذا قَلَمُك؟
هو: أجِب
Instructor: no the pen isn’t mine
هو : لا هَذا القَلمُ ليَس قَلَمى
هو : قُل
Instructor: but my pen was next to my papers
هو : لَكِن قَلمى كَان بِجِوارِ أوراقِي
هو : هي تقول
Instructor: I’m sorry; I don’t see your papers now
هى :أنا آسفة... لَم أرى أوراقَكَ الآن
هو : قل
Instructor: I remember my papers were here two minutes ago
هو: أتذَكَرُ أورَاقي ... كَانوا هُنا مُنذُ دَقيقتيَن
Instructor: on this table
هي: على هَذه المِنضَدة
Instructor: and my pen was next to my papers
هو : وقَلمِى كَان بِجِوارِ أوراقِي
هو : بِجِوار
هو : هى تسال
Instructor: your pen?
هى : قَلمُك ؟ ( ملحوظة للراوية بأداء طريقة السؤال )
Instructor: she picks up something, how would she ask, is this pen yours?
هى : هَل هَذا قَلمُك؟
Instructor: it was on this table
هى : كان على هَذه المِنضَدة
هي: على هَذه المِنضَدة
Instructor: next to the telephone...
هى : بٍجٍوارِ الهاتف
Instructor: Under a book
هي: تَحتَ كِتاب
Instructor: maybe your pen is here
هي: ربما قَلَمُكَ هُنا
هو : قل . القلم لك
Instructor: say yes the pen is yours
هو : نعَم هَذا قَلمِى
Instructor: now it is another day, referring to an upcoming business
trip, you say to your assistant I want to talk about this trip to Homs
هو : أُريدُ أن أتَحَدَث ُ مَعَكِ عن هَذِهِ الرِحلَةِ إلى حِمص
Instructor: how would she ask you, did you book the hotel?
هى : هَل حَجزت الفُندُق ؟
هو : هى تقول
Instructor: sometimes you don’t remember
هى : أحيانًا لا تَتذَكَر
Instructor: you want to tell her, I didn’t have my credit cards with
me. First here’s how to say the credit cards. Literally cards the credit
هو: ﺇستَمع وأعِد
هو : بِطاقَاتُ الإئتِمان .. تِمان
هو : إئتِمان
هو : بِطاقَات
هو : بِطاقَاتُ الإئتِمان
هو : قل
Instructor: the credit cards
هو : بِطاقَاتُ الإئتِمان
Instructor: to say my credit cards you add a word meaning literally of mine
هو: ﺇستَمع وأعِد
هو : الخَاصَة بِي
هو : الخَاصة بِي
هو : بطَاقَاتُ الائتمَانِ الخَاصةِ بِي
Instructor: now try to say my credit cards
هو : بطَاقَاتُ الائتمَانِ الخَاصةِ بِي
هو : الخَاصة بِي
Instructor: Do you remember how to say not with me
هى : ليسَت معِى
Instructor: to say I didn’t have literally say wasn’t with me. Credit card is feminine so you use
هو: تكن
Instructor: for was... try it
هو : لم تكن معِى
هو : لم تكن معِى
Instructor: now try to say I didn’t have my credit cards with me
هو : لم تكُن معِى بطاقاتُ الائتمَانِ الخَاصةِ بِي
هو : بطاقات الائتمَان
هو : هى تسال
Instructor: did you book the hotel?
هى : هل حَجزتَ الفندُق؟
Instructor: tell her no I didn’t have my credit cards with me
هو : لا ..لم تكُن معِى بطَاقَاتُ الائتمَانِ الخَاصةِ بِي
Instructor: she tells you I booked the hotel this morning
هى : حَجزت ُ الفندقَ صبَاحَاً
هو : قُل
Instructor: yes, thank you and now
هو : نعَم ... شُكرًا والآن
هو : كيف تَقول
Instructor: the meeting
هو : الإجتِمَاع
هو : الإجتِمَاع
Instructor: try to say today’s meeting. Literally meeting the today
هو : اجتِماعُ اليَوم
هو : اجتِماعُ اليَوم
هو : قُل
Instructor: I want to talk with you about today’s meeting
هو : أحبُ أن اتحَدثَ مَعكِ عن اجتِمَاعِ اليَوُم
هو : اجتِمَاع اليَوُم
Instructor: later you and your wife are planning a vacation together; ask her where you want to go
هو : إلىَ أينَ تُريدينَ الذهِاب؟
هو: قُل
Instructor: I want to talk with you about this trip
هو : أحبُ أن اتحدثَ معَكِ عن هَذِه الرِحلة
Instructor: your wife says I would like to go to Lattakia
هى : أحبُ الذِهابَ الىَ اللاذقية
هى : أحبُ الذِهابَ الىَ اللاذقية
هو : اسال
Instructor: really, you want to go back there
هو : حقا ً. تُريدِينَ الرجوعَ إلىَ هُناك؟
Instructor: you want to say you thought you want to go to Cairo. First just listen
هو : اعتقدُتُ أنكِ تريدينَ الذهَابَ إلى القاهِرة
Instructor: first here’s how to say I thought
هو: ﺇستَمع وأعِد
هو : اعتقَدت ُ
هو : اعتقَدت ُ
هو: كيف تقول
Instructor: I thought
هو : اعتقَدت ُ
Instructor: how do you say you want to a woman?
هو: تريدين
Instructor: now try to say I thought you want
هو: اعتقدتُ أنكِ تُريدين
Instructor: I thought you wanted to go to Cairo
هو : اعتقدُتُ أنكِ تريدينَ الذهَابَ إلى القاهِرة.. إلى القاهِرة
هو: هي تَقول
Instructor: no I prefer to go back to Lattakia
هى : لا .. أفضِّلُ الرجُوعَ إلىَ اللاذقية
Instructor: tell her that you too prefer to go back to Lattakia
هو : وأنا ايضاً أفضِّلُ ذلك
هو : هى تقول
Instructor: really I thought
هى : حقا ً .. اعتقدت ُ
هى : اعتقدت ُ
Instructor: how would she say to you I thought you wanted to go to Homs?
هى : اعتقدتُ أنكَ تُريدُ الذِهَابَ إلىَ حِمص
هى : تُريد
Instructor: no I prefer to go back to Lattakia
هو : لا .. أفضِّلُ الذِهَابَ إلىَ اللاذقية
هو : هى تسال
Instructor: I thought you wanted to return there
هى : اعتقدتُ انكَ تريدُ ان تَرجعَ إلىَ هُنَاك
هى : تَعود
Instructor: now she says you need to buy plane tickets right
away. First Here is the word "tickets".
هو : استمِع واعِد
هى : تذاكِر

Instructor: do you remember how to say the plane
هو : الطائِرة
هو : الطائِرة
Instructor: now how would she say the plane tickets? Literally tickets the plane, try it

هو : سوف أشتري شيئًا

Instructor: the plane tickets

Instructor: now she says you need to buy
هى : لابُدّ أن تَشترِي

Instructor: how would she say you need to buy plane tickets right a way
هى : لابدّ أن تشتَري تذاكِرَ الطائِرة حالاً
هى : لابدّ أن تشتَري تذاكِرَ الطائِرة حالاً
Instructor: you and your wife are meeting for lunch the next day but you are a little late, how do you apologize
هو : آسِف أنا متأخِر
Instructor: how does she say it doesn’t matter?
هى : لا يُهِم
Instructor: how would she say she wants to talk with you about this trip?
هى : أحبُ أن اتحَدثَ مَعكَ عن هذهِ الرِحلة
Instructor: you need to buy the plane tickets right away
هى : لابدّ أن تشتريَ تذاكِرَ الطائِرةِ حالاً

Instructor: she says I thought you bought the plane tickets today
هى : اعتقدُتُ أنكَ اشتريتُ تذَاكِرَ الطَائِرةِ اليوم
هو : قل
Instructor: no but I can buy the plane tickets tomorrow
هو : لا ..لكِن استطيِعُ أن أشتريَ تذاكرَ الطائرة غداً
Instructor: I didn’t have my credit cards with me
هو : لم تكن معى بطاقاتُ الائتمانِ الخاصةِ بي
Instructor: this morning
هو : هذا الصباح
Instructor: I didn’t have my credit cards with me
هو : لم تكن معِى بطَاقَاتُ الائتِمانِ الخَاصةِ بِي
Instructor: now you finish eating how you ask for the check
هو : الفاتورة من فَضلِك
Instructor: later your wife says, I want to talk with
you about this trip
هى : أحبُ ان اتَحدثَ معَكَ عن هِذهِ الرِحلة
هو: هي تسال
Instructor: did you book the hotel ?
هى : هل حَجزتُ الفندُق؟
? Instructor: and did you buy the plane tickets
هي: و هل اشتريتُ تذَاكِرَ الطَائِرة ؟
Instructor: tell her I will book the hotel today… but
هو : سوفَ احجزُ الفندُق اليوم .... لكِن
Instructor: I don’t remember what it’s called
هو : لا اتذكَرُ اسمَه ُ
Instructor: she says the hotel is called Al-Horreya
هى : الفندُق اسمَهُ الحرية
Instructor: it is next to a good restaurant
هى : بجِوارِ مَطعمٍ جَيد
هو : قل
Instructor: great now I will book the hotel
هو : عَظيم الآن سَوف أحجِزُ الفندق
هو : هى تقول
Instructor: yes you need to do it today
هى : نعم لابُدّ ان تفَعلَ ذلِكَ اليَومُ

But I didn’t have time to call Instructor:
هو: لكن لم يكن لدىّ الوَقت لاتصِل
Instructor: and yesterday I didn’t have my credit cards with me
هو : والبارحة لم تكُن معِى بطَاقَاتُ الائتمَانِ الخَاصةِ بِي
Instructor: I can buy the tickets tomorrow morning
هو : أستطيِعُ شراءَ التذَاكِرَ غداً صباحاً
